Workshops


Simcoe Contemporary Dancers will be offering free dance workshops at the Five Points Theatre nightly from March 2-4 with live accompaniment provided by professional percussionist, Joe Adamick!

Dance workshops will consist of the following components:

- A fun community building drum circle warm-up will taught by Joe from 6:30-6:55, no experience required!

- The dance workshop component will consist of floor-work, centre practice, travelling work and movement combinations from 7-7:45 taught by a member of Simcoe Contemporary Dancers.

Dance Workshop Topics are as follows:

March 2 - Beginner Contemporary Technique

March 3 - Dance Improvisation

March 4 - Beginner Contemporary Choreography

Proof of Vaccination is required upon entry. Please visit the City of Barrie's website to learn more about their COVID-19 policies.

*Workshops will be taught at a beginner level but not absolute beginner. All are welcome whether you have a lot of experience with movement or a little! We invite you to come try it out and just have fun! Modifications can be provided to fit a variety of experience levels.*



Free Dance Workshops - EVENT POSTPONED DUE TO COVID-19

Unfortunately, with an abundance of caution, we have decided to postpone our free dance workshops. We will update our website and social media when a new date has been determined. 

Saturday, March 14, 2020
2:00-3:00 pm and 4:00-5:00 pm @ The Gibson Centre

SCD will be offering two FREE Dance workshops at the Gibson Centre prior to our performance of Confluence! 

The first workshop will be focused on Creative Movement for ages 8-12.

The second workshop will be focused on Contemporary Technique for ages 13+.

About workshops presented by SCD:
Workshops are recommended for participants high school age or older. Age exemptions are considered on a case by case basis. 

All participants must complete a participation waiver and image release form.
