Contract Run includes:
Pre-Festival Virtual Meeting: This will be scheduled
at some point between July 4, 2022 – July 10, 2022,
with the local staff and touring staff. Rate will be $50/hour for time spent in
this virtual meeting (approximately two (2) hours)
Festival Week: July 11-17 - approximately
3:00 – 11:00 pm daily
Contract Fee: $2,900 ($50/hour for 7 8-hour days, approximately 3:00-11:00 pm daily and $50/hour for an
approximately two (2) hour pre-festival virtual meeting)
About Dusk Dances
Barrie
Dusk Dances Barrie is an outdoor dance festival that brings dance to Lampman Lane Park. As dusk descends, a theatrical host leads the audience to an array of unique dance pieces that unfold in different areas of the park. Dusk Dances Barrie is presented by Simcoe Contemporary Dancers (SCD) as a licensee of Dusk Dances Inc.
Job Description
We
are looking for two (2) dynamic and experienced Technical Staff members to join our local event team for Dusk Dances Barrie 2022. Technical Staff
members will work closely with SCD’s Executive Director, Dusk Dances Festival
Director, and the Dusk Dances Tour Production Manager to coordinate and ensure
all technical requirements for the event are fulfilled, including sound.
Technical Staff must be available for the entire duration of the festival from July 11-17, 2022, and have flexibility to book a pre-festival virtual meeting with local and touring staff between July 4-10.
The festival
week schedule includes the following highlights:
- Monday, July 11, 2022 – Meeting
the touring technical crew and cast for site selection
- Tuesday, July 12, 2022 – Dress
Rehearsal Day 1 including production meeting
- Wednesday, July 13, 2022 –
Dress Rehearsal Day 2 including production meeting
- Thursday-Sunday, July 14-17, 2022 – Show run including daily production meeting
The exact schedule will be confirmed during the hiring process.
Requirements
The ideal Technical Staff candidates will:
- Have a solid proven experience working in the performing arts in a technical capacity
- Have excellent communication skills
- Work well in a fast-paced environment and adapt easily
to changes
- Respect timelines and effectively manage multiple tasks
- Have solid competence in planning and coordination
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with SCD staff, volunteers, and Dusk Dances Staff, and touring performers
- Be fully available for the entire festival schedule and maintain flexibility between July 4-10 for scheduling of a pre-festival virtual meeting
- Have a valid Ontario Driver’s License (for cargo vans
and golf carts where applicable)
Responsibilities
- Assisting with the set up and
strike for the overall show, as assigned by the Festival Director and/or
Production Manager
- Attending production meetings
daily throughout the run of the festival at Lampman Lane Park starting at 3:00
pm from July 11-17, 2022
- Engaging with the SCD staff and
Dusk Dances touring staff on all matters regarding Lampman Lane Park including
carrying applicable permits at all time (which have previously been obtained by
SCD) and following all protocols related to power, park facilities, permission
for vehicle parking in the park locations and permission to drive any vehicles
into and through the park, if necessary and as appropriate
- Being physically present at
Lampman Lane Park four and a half (4.5) hours before all performances and dress
rehearsals, as deemed necessary by SCD and Dusk Dances touring staff (3 pm arrival for 7:30 show start)
- Setting up the technical
requirements and set pieces for each dance work, including sound systems and
other pre-approved items for each night of the festival including dress
rehearsals as directed by the Production Manager
- Driving the cargo van or golf
cart on park grounds with a spotter during the duration of the festival as
needed.
- Other tasks associated with and related to the production of the festival as assigned by the Production Manager
