She has performed with Le Groupe Dance Lab (Ottawa), Fortier Danse-Création (Montreal), Dancemakers (Toronto), and has worked with Berlin’s Tino Sehgal performing his Kiss at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. As an independent artist, Kate has recently danced for Susie Burpee, Nova Bhattacharya and Marie-Josée Chartier. Her own choreographic projects have offered her the opportunity to collaborate with Toronto sound and video designer Jeremy Mimnagh and Ottawa lighting designer Paul Auclair. Ms. Hilliard was commissioned by The Stella Adler Studio of Acting in Manhattan in 2010 and co-created and produced a work for six Montreal and Toronto dancers entitled The Brutes in 2011. With directorial guidance from: Margie Gillis, Bonnie Kim and Heidi Strauss, Hilliard has created and produced many independent performances for professional artists and for numerous educational institutions including Ryerson University. Kate’s choreography has been presented across Canada and in New York City. While continuing an artistic practice founded in performance and creation, she is currently pursuing a degree in Art History at The University of Toronto.
