1. What was your first
experience with dance?
My very first
experience with dance was in the gymnasium of my elementary school in
Warminster. I remember that it was a mom and daughter ballet class and we used
the backs of school chairs, all placed in a circle, as our barres. I don’t
remember the name of the teacher, but it only lasted a few months as the
teacher moved north and could no longer continue our classes. After this, I
stopped dancing. I wasn’t brave enough to go to a dance school on my own, it
wasn’t a common thing in our school. We were in the country, so most or all of
the children played sports.
DANCE!!!!!! Go to a
ballet class! Be brave!
3. How have you evolved
as a dancer since that first experience with
dance?
Well the difference now
is that I don’t’ care if I’m on my own. If I see an experience that will help
me grow as a dancer, I will take it no matter how scared it makes me feel
inside. I feel like I am still finding my feet as a dancer. There is always so
much to learn, every moment in dance is so different. I feel like I’m more
playful with dance now and not so serious.
4. Off the top of your
head, what are five words that describe dance to you?
Life, Breath, Freedom,
Happiness, Soul
