Call to Musicians - Be part of our pre-show playlist

Hello Barrie and area Musicians,
We are putting together a 30-45min compilation of songs by local artists to play pre and post show as the audience are making their way to their seats and leaving the show.

Our show "Departure" runs from May 16-18, 2013 at The Mady Centre for the Performing Arts. The Ontario Arts Council and the City of Barrie in part have funded this project.

What we are asking for from each band or artists is one song to add to this show CD that is "family friendly" in terms of language and also connects to the title of the show "Departure."

In return the artist/group will be thanked and linked to on our facebook, twitter, blog and in the program (if confirmed before printing).

Also, if you have CD's we'd be happy to sell them at our merchandise table. Theatre policy is the venue gets a 15% cut of all merch sales, but the rest would go to the artist - our organization would not take a cut from these sales.

What to send:
By email to subject line "Music"

  • mp3 or mp4 file of the track
  • Full name or artist or band
  • Link to your website

In person (we'll set up a drop off time over email)

  • CD's for the merch table (optional) a week before the show May 9

Who we are: Simcoe Contemporary Dancers is a professional company by and for our local community that exists to encourage and showcase the development of local professional contemporary dance. The company began in 2009 with support from a City of Barrie Arts Grant to individual artists and is now a not-for-profit organization. We have performed at such local events as The Mady Centre for the Performing Arts Grand Opening Gala, The Barrie Arts Awards and Culture Days. More information about our organization can be found online on our blog:

We know that indie artist and contemporary dance share a similar crowd so why not work together :)

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Sarah Lochhead Executive Director
