Company apprentice Aliyah Gaines began dancing at a studio in her hometown when she was around the age of 5. Unfortunately the studio closed, but she was able to find another local studio to continue to pursue her dancing.
Aliyah recalls joining Let’s
Dance in Orillia around the age of 11. She fondly reflects upon the friendships she made with her
dance peers. These relationships were more plentiful and stronger than any of
those throughout her elementary school career.
Over the years Aliyah’s dance
style has evolved greatly and she quite enjoys how she moves now. If given the
opportunity to go back in time, Aliyah would tell her younger dancing self not
to worry so much about what other people think and to just do what makes you
happy.
Five words/phrases Aliyah would use
to describe dance are: life; air; a best friend; a shoulder to cry on; and expression.
Thank you for sharing Aliyah!!
