On February 1st, I had the opportunity to moderate a panel on the first year out of school for dancers in their final year of post secondary dance studies. This annual conference is the result of a fantastic national service organization, The Dancer Transition Resource Centre. The main thing to remember in a career in the arts ... and in general ... can be summarized in the words of my husband Chad:
"CHANGE THE SITUATION OR CHANGE YOUR EXPECTATIONS"
or in this lovely graphic that has been going around Facebook:
It was invigorating to be in surrounded by such energy and enthusiasm. Thank you to the DTRC and to all the conference participants for such a wonderful afternoon.
