As many of you avid blog readers know, I've been part of the City of Barrie's pilot program Adopt-A-Class. This past week at Cundles Heights, we transitioned from our creative explorations of movements to setting and rehearsing our piece for the Spring showcase this week!
A few of the students commented that rehearsing was tiring! We talked a bit about their favourite sports and I highlighted to them the differences between aerobic and anaerobic activities. Often times in dance training as we stop to receive or give corrections we work in an anaerobic way but in rehearsals, exams and performances we work aerobically. I truly believe that dance is a wonderful source of fitness because it plays into both of these areas.
... 9 times out of 10 I'd choose cranking up the tunes and dancing my heart rate up to being on a treadmill ... just sayin'
