Launch of the I love dance / J’aime la danse National Campaign and Canada’s first National Dance Week!

... a message from the Canadian Dance Assembly

Toronto, ON - The Canadian Dance Assembly (CDA) invites all to participate in Canada’s first ever National Dance Week which marks the kick off to theI love dance / J’aime la danse National Campaign (2011-2017). This six year awareness campaign is dedicated to celebrating and strengthening the dance sector as an integral component to Canadian culture and embraces all dance forms and expressions.

The campaign started a year and a half ago and since, CDA has met with dance professional communities across Canada. Today April 19th, we celebrate the launch of this first edition among the wider Canadian community. Encouraging a cohesive and inclusive environment, the National Campaign not only embraces the professional dance community but engages youth groups, elders, amateurs as well as outreaches to community members and leaders. The project advances dance through a focus on community inclusiveness, economic effectiveness, outreach and visibility across the country.

We are thrilled to see every part of the country putting its programming under this shared initiative and we present below a few among the hundreds activities happening from coast to coast. Regional organizations and venues in all provinces will host an array of performances, workshops and activities to promote and celebrate dance, showcasing the talent and creativity that lies within our border.
