Mady Centre for the Performing Arts opens this weekend!

Saturday is a big day for Barrie! It is the grand opening of the Mady Centre for the Performing Arts right in the heart of our downtown!

We will be out and about during the community open house from 12-4pm on Saturday and we are also performing in the gala that evening.

For the gala we will be performing a group version of Betty's Bench, one of our signature works, to stunning vocals performed by Nicole Bach.  For our costumes, we've been generously outfitted in stylish ensembles from Awkward Stage, designed and created by Alana Sproule.

When the company started back in 2009, we began learning Betty's Bench in the downtown theatre when it was the converted bank.  It was surreal at dress rehearsal on Thursday to be in the new space and reflect on how much has changed in two years time ...

We can also say that, based on dress rehearsal, we were the first dance company to dance in the new space! How cool is that?

We will be posting video and photos from our dress rehearsal and the open house festivities in the coming week, so stay tuned!

To read more about the Mady Centre her is an article from Thursday's Barrie Examiner.
