In process: Fall Creation Period (Post 1 - Nancy Pottage)

OK, universe, I get it.

At the beginning of September I was paralyzed with fear. I felt old but inexperienced.

What was I doing, dancing, teaching dance, teaching how to teach dance?? I was freaking out.

And then we started rehearsing and I was reminded that here was nothing to do but play and try things with this amazing community of artists. My brain is sparking and making connections. It doesn't want to let me sleep.

This feeling of awakeness reminded me of my early experiences with Limón technique at theatre school so I just pulled out an old journal of mine, from that period, 1993 (see, old, eh?), randomly opened it and found this:

“Limon-how do I love thee? Let me count the ways… ” I kid you not.

And just before that entry, this quote by Rainer Maria Rilke:

“Did you really not know till now that joy is something terrible of which one is not afraid? One goes right through a terror to its very end: and that is just joy.”
