So glad I have family in the USA who can send these to me! It is nice to get snail mail especially if the stamp is graced with an image of an innovative choreographer.
I got word of this from the José Limón Dance Foundations' most recent email newsletter.
Here is an excerpt form the US Postal Service site:
"In 2012, the U.S. Postal Service pays tribute to four influential choreographers who changed the art of dance: Isadora Duncan, José Limón, Katherine Dunham, and Bob Fosse. Designed to look like posters advertising a performance, the stamp art captures the luminosity and mystery of a live dance performance. [...] Art director Ethel Kessler designed the stamps using illustrations by James McMullan, widely known for his work for Lincoln Center Theater in New York City."
