In process: Woven (Post 6 - Regan McQuoid)

Working on SCD’s upcoming show Woven has been such an amazing experience. But I have come across something unexpected that I have never done before. Lines.

First off, I am not an actor. It’s something that I have never been good at. When I get in front of people and I have to talk I get all red and splotchy, I start to stutter, and I completely forget what it was that I was supposed to be saying. Not to mention that I start talking like a valley girl, a million miles a minute. Really embarrassing. Also, there’s the whole acting portion. Trying to be someone else is just plain difficult. How can I be anyone but myself? While I’m dancing it doesn’t seem to be a problem, but when I try saying my lines it just doesn’t sound right. It sound like ‘I’m acting, look at me, I’m acting’, but it should just sound like a person speaking.

But in this show, I do have lines, and I do need to figure out how to act. Practice makes perfect right?

Curious to see how this one turns out? Come see SCD’s upcoming show Woven on May 8th! See you there!
