Pro D in NYC: Sarah & Andrea's epic adventure (Post 1 - Sarah Lochhead)

March break is upon us and for the first time in a long time. I'm packing my bags and heading on a holiday. I have been to NYC before for a school trip and for auditions but this will be my longest stay in the city and one focused on professional development. Having just turned twenty-nine in January, I made a list of things I wanted to do before I turn thirty and this was at the top of the list. Somehow, I managed to twist Andrea Marcucci's arm (Andrea is a guest artist with SCD and the Artistic Director of Orillia Dance Academy) to accompany me on this adventure.

Some highlights of our itinerary include:

... and much more!

I also just found out today that Martha Graham Dance Company's New York season, celebrating eight-five years, is he entire week that we are there!

Between last weeks amazing twenty-fifth anniversary celebration for Dance Collection Danse, this exciting trip and our current collaboration with Trish Armstrong, there seems to be a thread and desire to connect our collective dance past to the present and tell our stories to future generations of artists.

I'm very excited to soak in all I can and bring back these experiences to share with dancers right here in our community ... and let's be honest - I'm also excited to bring back at least one new pair of shoes.

I have managed to test out and set up mobile blogging! So, stay tuned for more posts, tweets and facebook updates while we are there!

Special thanks to Chad Ballantyne for suggesting I blog about this trip.
