In process: Summer Creation Period 2010 (post 3 - Sarah Lochhead)

My horoscope in Thursday's Barrie Examiner seemed quite a fitting read after coming home from rehearsal.  It said:

"You Might feel an urge to travel to a distant land that involves your ancestors, or to some place more intimate, that deals with you early childhood. You may learn more than you think possible."

The first portions relates to Meaghan's piece Plaid - as it is inspired by her Scottish ancestry. My family is also of Scottish descent (Lochhead ... Lochness .. pretty close eh?).

The second portion to me relates to the lyrics and sentiment I feel in Susan Kendal's piece Penumbra - in particular the duet I dance with Carly.  The  song begins "I am my mother's only son ..." but beyond that there is a sense of trust and vulnerability in the movement relationship between Carly and I. I don't just mean in the lifts either ... it is something more subtle than that ... and hard to articulate in words...
