In process: Summer Creation Period 2010 (post 2 - Nicola Russell)

The first rehearsal process as a new company was working on Plaid with the amazingly talented Meghan Giusti. Plaid is based around a soloist and includes a series of combinations performed in specific variations.
I found Plaid to be the perfect piece to work on first with our new company members as the material was connected between each performer. We all learned the same movement material together and then went through the staging of the piece. This really helped us all bond, as we helped each other out and coached each other. It was great to perform the same material and see how we all moved together as a company before then going onto build the piece from various solos, duets, trios etc. This process really helped us get a sense of togetherness right from the start.
